Monday Mess

It’s Monday and I have a headache.

That is a formula for major suckage.

This weekend was fun filled with a great bon voyage dinner for Cherise and her family on Friday, lunch with family we have not seen in a long while on Saturday, a Movie and Disneyland on Saturday night, and church on Sunday.

But today, I am not feeling so hot. I woke up at 94 which was a nice but my head was pounding.

I have a follow up appointment with my neurologist on Friday regarding the weird surges I get in my head. Last week I had more blood drawn since the MRI came back all clear. I still have the weird feeling like I am going to pass out now and then so I hope we get to the bottom of this.

My search for an endo needs to happen. I started looking and got overwhelmed. I need to just do it and get in to see someone. I really do not want to step a foot back into my current endo’s office if I do not have to. What kills me is that I jumped through several hoops just to get to this “great” guy and yet I was not happy at all.

Oh man, is it me? Maybe I am just a bad patient. Ugh, I dunno. I have this vision in my head of this “endo” that I don’t even know exists. But I have to find someone.

This is probably one of the most disjointed posts I have written in a while and for that I apologize but like I said at the beginning.

It’s Monday and I have a headache. Forgive me.

I have a headache, too. I'm not even going to attempt to write a blog post today.

I admire your willingness to give it a try.

Oh, and FWIW, I don't think your search for a "good" endo is unrealistic. I also don't think you're a bad patient. After years of searching, I finally found one that I intend to stick with.

Finding the right doctor is one of the most important choices you will make regarding your management. If you have to go through 50 docs to find the right one, don't feel bad.

It gets overwhelming, but at least you know that once you find him/her , you'll be able to stick with the doc for a decade or more.

good luck!

To quote Office Space: "Let me ask you something: When you come in on Monday and you're not feeling real well, does anyone ever say to you, 'Sounds like someone has a case of the Mondays?'"

Regardless of the answer (which we know is Heck No!), it's still What It Is. Monday. A Mess. That's All.

Hope yours gets better, G. From the Monday Mess to the Endo Search and Beyond.

Not a disjointed post at all. I honestly don't think the problem with your endo is your fault. And if he has a great reputation, perhaps it isn't his fault either. Perhaps the two of you just aren't a good fit together. That's fine - just keep up the search for an endo you connect with - it makes all of the difference in the world. The fact that you have an "endo vision" is a good thing, because it means you know what you are looking for. Now it's just a matter of finding him or her.

Feel better, my friend!!

Keep up the search! You will find someone you can work with. I agree with Karen, your current endo just might not mesh well with you. Doesn't mean that is anyone's fault. Hope the headache went away. :)

Hope you feel better today. I can hardly function when I've got a headache.

For the endo thing - you are definitely NOT a bad patient. It is hard to find someone you feel good with and click with. All the work it will take is freaking paralyzing though. But dude - you NEED to find someone you can work with. We are all going to need help from our endo, so you need to have someone you feel comfortable with.

George, I agree with Karen - sometimes a good fit for a successful doctor - patient relationship takes time.

One question - do you have blood pressure issues? Since I have had my blood pressure problem under control - my headaches are all but a thing of the past. In the seven years since - only one severe headache and that was when I forgot to take the meds. A few minor ones from eating foods that contain MSG and those were from eating out. Since I know that MSG affects me - those foods stay on the grocer's shelves.

Best wishes for finding the endo that works for both of you.

Dude, you are so not a bad patient. I think that some endos just aren't right for some patients. I remember when I switched from the pediatrics department to the "grown up section" at Joslin, I tried out three different endos before landing on the one I have now. We work too hard to waste those 7 - 12 minutes at the doctor's office, so I think you are spot on for finding a doctor that you can really connect with.

And if it takes a few tries? Don't feel bad. Just keep looking. You're worth it, SuperG.
