The Diabetes Cupboard

Back at the old house I had a spot for all of my diabetes supplies. The diabetes cupboard. I was able to store all my infusion sets, reservoirs, sensors, strips, lancets, IV 3000, Tegaderm, IV Prep Pad, Alcohol wipes, spare machines, and whatever else my the diabetes hoarder in me could get his hands on.

When a new shipment of supplies would come in it would go immediately into the cupboard. At a quick glance I could see exactly what I running low on and what I had plenty of. It was great.

The problem is that I cannot find a spot in the new place that makes any sense for my diabetes cupboard. The kitchen doesn’t really have a spot and there is really no place in my bathroom either. I was thinking about buying a little two drawer cabinet to use in my bedroom but that seems silly.

Where do you keep your supplies? Do you have a cupboard or a box or what do you do? I am so sick of unpacking boxes that I cannot think straight.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated!

I have a big cabinet in my living room. I wouldn't normally keep it in the living room, but it's really nice and there wasn't room in another room.

I have a dedicated dresser in my bedroom for all my supplies. Easy to reach, organize and all my supplies.

A few years ago, i bought boxes at IKEA (pretty red, but I guess that's not important, huh?) and put all my supplies in there. The boxes sit in my closet on the shelf, and look like they hold scarves or shoes or something.

Lili - I think I am going to have to go with the bedroom or office.

Sydney - My dresser is so full I am gonna have to pick something else up.

Annie - IKEA! I will have to see what I can find there. Great idea!

With two T1's supplies feel like they are coming from everywhere. We have an area in our kitchen that I guess is supposed to be like a bread box but it's HUGE. It has three shelves and a rolling top and it's off to one corner. It makes storage eay. Before this place we had them stored in 3 different cabinets. Made keeping up with what we needed a pain in the arse.

I have a little spare cupboard in my office that holds a three-drawer plastic thingy full of supplies, and there's also a shelf in the bathroom, a drawer in the kitchen and, by golly, the stuff I use daily has a spot on the kitchen counter. YIKES! I need to get this stuff organized, don't I!?

Thanks for the post because, I actually thought I was doing pretty well. I will make an effort to be better organized and and not such a hog of all the prime real estate in the house!!

Mine are in rubbermaid boxes (large ones), in the linen closet.

I keep the in a big woven basket that I'm told was modeled after the ones that snake charmers keep their cobras in....go figure.

I have a couple drawers in a big buffet kind of thing. It would go nice in that little section of your living room...

I actually have two plastic 3-drawer sets (wow I have a sh*t load of stuff!!!) that I keep in my bedroom. Luckily in our new(ish) place, they fit in the corner behind the door so it's totally out of the way. I hope you can find a good spot for your stuff!

George, I keep a mish mash of supplies. The bulk go into a plastic cubby in my closet, with random purses, diaper bags, computer bags, etc all have at least one infusion set and reservoir. I keep unexpired strips, reservoirs, and sets in all our vehicles as well as vials floating around all the bags. I keep my other meds and a steady supply of strips and other stuff on top my dresser.
I only have one meter right now but plan on getting a second as a spare to keep in my desk.
